General Curriculum
Nativity School follows the curriculum of the Archdiocese of Miami. This curriculum seeks to foster the growth of the whole child: spiritual, intellectual, physical and social. The goal is to lead the students to become responsible members of the Church and of society.
Students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 receive instruction in the following core subjects:
  • Religion
  • Language Arts (including literature, grammar & composition, phonics)
  • Spelling and/or Vocabulary
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Handwriting (K-5), Cursive Writing - Grade 2
In addition, students (depending on grade level) receive instruction in the following enrichment specials during the week:
  • Spanish
  • Physical Education
  • Music
  • Art
Standardized Testing
Students in 2nd through 8th grade will take the Terra Nova Standardized Test.
Students in 5th and 8th grades will take the Assessment of Catechesis/Religion Education (ACRE) test.

Academic events, programs and technological support that enrich the curriculum include:
  • Google Apps for Education 1:1 Chromebook Program: Grades 5-8
  • Interactive White Boards in grades K - 8.
  • Laptop/Tablet Centers in Kindergarten -- Grade 4. 
  • Accelerated Reader Program (technology based)
  • Mathletics Program - Grades 2-5
  • Elementary STEM Fair
  • Junior High Science Fair
  • National Geography Society Geography Bee
  • Spelling Bee
  • Law Day Speech Contest - Grade 7
  • Elective First Friday Classes - Grades 6-8
Extra-Curricular Activities
Older Nativity students have the opportunity to join clubs and/or try out for sports teams. This offers the students a chance to pursue their interests, talents, and abilities.
